Linen Eureka Tops
I love the Eureka vest and have made it away from wool, raw man made fiber and lightweight linen. But I wanted to make one that had a “skirt” or underlay in order that I could use a Cheap Stone Island Cotton Pique Bright Blue Polo Shirt pair of coordinating pieces of linen—a checkered and a stripe—that I’d become from Cy Rudnick’s years ago. (Sorry but the store shut down years ago.)
The first step ended up being decide what the underlay will want to look like. Remembering a conversation with Linda regarding the Hibiscus Shirt, the underlay with the shirt is what I employed as a starting point for that vest. I attracted a pattern from the Hibiscus underlay and made the necessary alterations towards the Eureka fronts and backs to match the irregular in shape shape of my underlay.
Up coming I used some affordable fabric that I would recently purchased to make a test. The result had been the yellow jacket above.
Since that will worked out well, My partner and i cut out the fabric through the teal plaid and striped linen fabric, made it up and wound up with a really cute vest.
But I didn’t hang on a minute because I wanted to come up with a vest that didn’t hold the asymmetrical look to it. I wanted one with just a “skirt” under this, which was very easy to complete, as well as a vest which was a bit longer than the Eureka jacket.
1) I used a corner underlay pattern from the Eureka-Hibiscus jacket, but squared it Cheap Stone Island Cotton Pique Bright Blue Polo Shirt up so it wouldn’t be asymmetrical.
A couple of) I shortened the main length of the Eureka vest a number of inches.
3) Following sewing the Eureka element of the vest, I just topstitched the particular skirt onto the Eureka jacket.
Voilà—two new versions from the Eureka vest.
