We’re excited to announce that we’re pairing up with Foodie Subway to present Foodie Holidaze, a series upon traditional holiday snacks your more traditional family members will acknowledge and your foodie friends may still approve of. Consider it as junk food on a spa treatment.

Many holiday delicacy recipes are like drugs; they’re addictive and you can never ever get enough of them. Be honest. You have more often than once stood next to the buffet table so you helps keep sneaking a certain form of cookie or chocolate.
When it comes to holiday snack foods, my weak point is actually muddy buddies. I needed never made this getaway essential until earlier Cheap Stone Island Crewneck Sweater Gary Red this week, not because it involves using a grouped together cereal, but because I knew it would undoubtedly show up at a certain party every December. There’s you should not eat choclatey chex mix more often than once every 12 months; it’s such as holiday crack, easier to avoid it all the other times of the year. Which means not making it yourself.
However came the challenge of revamping it, and in my world, if one thing can combine dark chocolate, cardamom and sea sea, then it’s probably worth eating. And our convictions were verified: I am addicted to these products.
This version can be vegan and gluten free of course, but don’t worry, your family will never notice the difference.

Vegan and Gluten-free Muddy Buddies together with Cardamom and Sea Sea salt
4.5 cups Rice Chex
Some.5 cups Corn Chex
1 cup semisweet choc chips (if you’re making this for vegans, make sure they’re all-vegetable certified)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 pot coconut oil
One teaspoon vanilla
4 teaspoons cardamom
3-4 teaspoons rough sea salt
One particular 1/2 cups powdered sugar (if you’re trying to reduce sugar, you can use a smaller amount powdered sugar – i have listed as good without!)
In a large bowl, combine the high sugar cereals.
Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and coconut gas either by putting them in a microwavable bowl as well as nuking them for about Half a minute, or with the double boiler method. Don’t fret, I don’t own a double boiler either. You accomplish this fancy appearing thing by filling up a large pot along with water and locating a smaller heat-proof bowl within the water (metal works best). Temperature the water while constantly stirring the mixture until it is fully dissolved.
Stir in vanilla flavoring and cardamom into the dissolved concoction. Slowly serve mixture over the breakfast cereal and stir till cereal is evenly painted.
Spread coated breakfast cereal out on a piece of polish paper and dust sea salt about that. Place cereal within a large food-storage plastic bag. Add powdered glucose, seal and move until cereal is fully coated.
Note: If you want a milder sodium taste, use a flakier marine salt.
Send Foodie Subway your favorite holiday guilty snack pleasure – they will love green beans casserole too, don’t worry – and they’ll pick one to be able to revamp, foodie style. The particular winning dish will win a $70 gift certificate from Horny Toad plus a handmade Laura Cooke Ceramics coffee mug (with an canine print of your choice).
